Hazelmarie Hitt was born on January 2, 1927 in Hinton, OK to Lloyd Sr. and Lela (Hudson) McNeely. Hazel passed away on February 28, 2025 in Binger, OK at the age of 98. She grew up in Hinton all her life. During her high school years, Hazel was a Drum Major and played the trombone. She also ran 2 beauty shops in Hinton during high school. Hazel married Frank Allen Hitt on December 10, 1946 in Hinton, OK, They raised two daughters together, Sue Ann and Janelle. She and Frank owned and operated a grocery store in Geary and in Sickles, and two restaurants, one being Hitt’s Steakhouse in Hinton, as well as farming throughout those years. Hazel loved her family and spending time with them. She will be deeply missed by all those who loved her in return.
Survivors Include: her daughter, Sue Ann Schimmel of Lookeba, OK, her grandchildren, Tracy Williams of Lookeba, OK, Wade Gathers and wife Angela of Calumet, OK, and Chad Schimmel and Kristy Carver of Hinton, OK, her great grandchildren, Kylie Werger and husband Matt of Anadarko, OK, Tatum Chancellor of Lookeba, OK, Garret Gathers and wife Mikayla of Tuttle, OK, Rhett Gathers and wife Leighann of El Reno, OK, Audrey Gathers of Calumet, OK, and Bryer Schimmel of Lookeba, OK, her great great grandson, Reid Gathers, one great great grandson on the way, and her nephew, Jack McNeely of Purcell, OK, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Lela McNeely, her husband, Frank Hitt, her daughter, Janelle Rainey, her son in law, Roger Schimmel, her great grandson, Blake Williams, her brother, Lloyd McNeely, Jr., and her sister in law, Shirley McNeely.
